What should I expect at my appointment with Travel Health Services?
Our Nurse Practitioner will assess your individual needs, taking into account exact destinations on your itinerary, length of stay, urban vs. rural activities and special medical needs. Recommendations will be based on the latest information from the Center for Disease Control, the World Health Organization and the U.S. State Department. A personal travel health plan may include precautions for safe food and water, mosquitoes, environmental hazards and safety concerns. Each Travel Medicine Consultation, like each traveler and each journey, is unique.

A customized travel booklet will be provided that will include a summary of your travel health recommendations and safety information for your journey.

Your travel vaccinations will be administered by a skilled and caring professional during your visit. You will be provided with an official immunization record to keep with your travel documents. The International Certificate of Yellow Fever Vaccination (the Yellow Card) is provided to recipients of the Yellow Fever Vaccine.

Depending on your unique journey, you may receive a prescription for medication to prevent malaria or altitude sickness or treatment for traveler’s diarrhea.

Your meeting with the Nurse Practitioner will last about 45 minutes for evaluation, education and administration of vaccines.

What do I need to bring with me to my Travel Health Services appointment?
For your convenience, please complete the Pre-Travel Form in the comfort of your own home. If you choose to print the form and complete it on pen and paper, be sure to bring it to your appointment. It will include the necessary information to make your recommendations for a safe and healthy trip.

Completed form should include:

  • List of any medications you are currently taking
  • List of allergies and conditions or diseases you currently have
  • List of countries you anticipate visiting
  • Duration of your trip
  • Nature of your trip, whether Sightseeing, Adventure, Business or Mission work

Should I eat before my appointment?
You will feel better when you receive vaccinations if you have eaten and are not dehydrated. Inform your Travel Nurse Consultant if you have not eaten recently.

What method of payment do you accept?
You may pay with Credit or Debit cards, HSA card or cash.
